The Learn Abilities Initiative

We are a youth-led nonprofit organization aiming to uplift the voices of those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Welcome to the movement.

Our Mission

Learn Abilities, an international nonprofit organization, was founded in the spirit of intersectionality, creating a space to explore the ways in which disability and identity interact.

Our mission is simple: LA provides the next generation of leaders with learning disabilities accessible health and medical related resources at younger ages, giving them the ability to combat prejudice while spreading awareness about the challenges the neurodiverse population face throughout their journeys.

What We Do

Educate

A staggering 40% of people with learning disabilities are undiagnosed in childhood. Learn Abilities works to decrease this estimate by offering information for youth and families while also working to lessen prejudice against common disabilities.

Unite Like Youth

At least 1 in every 59 children have one or several learning disabilities; 1 in 5 children in the U.S. have learning and thinking differences as well. Through Learn Abilities, individuals with similar situations have a space to share their experiences with like-minded youth.

Provide Resources

The health and medical related resources on this website are provided solely for informational and educational purposes and are not a substitute for a professional diagnosis or for professional advice. However, we include locations and resources for families where individuals can receive testing or talk with professionals.
